Google+ Crosses 20 Million Users Mark in Three Weeks

Google’s latest social platform i.e. Google+ has finally hit the 20 million users mark in just three weeks. Its hard to believe such a rapid growth. This astonishing growth rate surely makes Google+ the fastest growing social platform.
It is definitely the fastest ascent to 20 million visitors that I can think of,” Andrew Lipsman, ComScore’s vice president of industry analysis, told the Los Angeles Times.
According to a ComScore, a research firm, Google has had 20 million unique visitors since its release last month 5 million of which are from United States. Google+ reached this milestone just one week after reaching 10 million members. According to the Google’s CEO   more than 1 billion different items have shared on Google+. These figures show that still being a new social platform Google+ has already made its mark in the world of social platforms.
After many of the failed attempts with the previous social platforms it looks like Google+  is expanding righteously like a beast unleashed in social. This surely is stunning but, in comparison to 750 million users of Facebook these 20 millions still seem very low.

Google Plus To Launch Verified Celebrity Accounts

According to the news from CNN Google+ is now working on some “Celebrity Acquisition Plan”. This plan will basically verify the celebrity accounts on Google+. Stars like Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga who have more than 10 million fans on twitter can be a valuable traffic attracting sources, Google clearly identified the importance of introducing verified celebrity accounts on Google+.
The plan is still unconfirmed by Google, moreover the company recently told brands and businesses not to create Google+ profiles just yet, as it works on a better experience for them.
The main issue which celebrities face while adapting to the environment of social platforms is impersonating. Any one can make an account impersonating a celebrity on a social platform so, there is surely a need for some way to identify and verify the legitimate accounts. Brett Schulte, a Hollywood consultant and social media organizer, explaining the current work of Google+ said:
As part of this initiative, Google is beginning to devise a system that would verify the identities of public figures who sign up for the service. They seemed to be very interested in having celebrities.
There are several ways in which Google could verify the celebrity accounts on Google+. They could either attain a copy of celebrity’s drivers license, or establish a line of communication with top talent consultants, as well as agencies, and allow them to file requests for celebrity verifications themselves.
What else this Celebrity Acquisition plan will encompass, its difficult to say anything at the moment but, it is possible that Google may split some ad revenue with Celebrities as to encourage them to engage with their fans. However the time will tell how the things unfold.

Blah, blah, blah … something about IPv6

The efforts to convert corporations to the next generation Internet addressing scheme are falling on deaf ears, according to research from Ovum. The analyst firm reports that a mere 3 percent of web traffic is IPv6 enabled and enterprises either aren’t convinced of the need to switch, or think they already have. The mentality seems to be “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” and so far nothing seems broken. However we’re already seeing some notable signs that the IPv4 pool is shrinking, including a $7.5 million deal by Microsoft to buy up some unused IPv4 addresses. For consumers, the lack of IPv4 addresses may add a little latency to web requests but it’s not like they won’t be able to visit their favorite web sites unless their ISP (like mine) doesn’t get its act together. BlackBerry App World hits one billion downloads, finally

Discovered a world of possibilities lately? Someone has, as the BlackBerry App World has just soared past the one billion download mark. It took a smidge over two years for the company to claim the milestone, if you count both smartphone and PlayBook tablet purchases. Android Market took about the same amount of time to reach the mark, but has soared to greater heights since, while Apple has averaged nearly a billion downloads per month in each of the last six months. A number of factors have likely led to the relative snail's pace in the BB storefront, including the outfit's rocky relationship with developers. In what can be seen as a morale booster, the company has begun a video series that allows seasoned RIM aficionados to offer their rationale for working with the mobile OS. Perhaps this will, in theory, help expedite the milestone conquering -- only time will tell.

The news of  people jailbreaking on-display iPod touches and iPads at Apple Stores (using the PDF document based exploit) wasn’t enough for YouTuber TheVexenon who uploaded a video of himself jailbreaking his iPhone 4 at a whooping altitude of 20,000 feet.
He used the in-flight WiFi of the aircraft to access JailbreakMe.com to jailbreak his iPhone 4 as JailbreakMe allows users to jailbreak their iDevices literally anywhere.
There are various other jailbreaking utilities such as Redsn0w, Sn0wbreeze and Pwnagetool but the latest JailbreakMe 3.0 has unmatched simplicity as it just takes seconds to jailbreak.
